UCG-Libelli-swMy love for romance novels goes way back into my teens, when I was never found without a book nearby. After graduating from school I went to university and got a degree in Medieval History, Social- and Economic History and German Linguistics as well as German as a Foreign Language. After spending some time at home (raising kids and failing miserably at housecleaning) in 1998 I launched Das Bücherregal, one of the first Romance Review Pages in Germany.

Since I have been a fan of the romance genre for decades I consider myself lucky for having been able to turn my passion into my job. My career in translation began in 1999 when CORA was looking for new translators and asked me if I was interested in the job. (I was)
I was also editor of “Romantica”, a collector’s edition of Romance Novels, and worked as professional reader in evaluating books for German publishers giving advice whether to get the rights for translation.

I have been translating books in the romance genre for 14 years, up to today (May 2013) about fifty full lenght novels and four novellas by authors like Teresa Medeiros, Stephanie Laurens, Shirlee Busbee,  Loretta Chase, Kinley MacGregor, Julia Quinn, Connie Brockway, Christina Dodd, Susann Wiggs, Tessa Dare and Courtney Milan to name only a few (to see the complete list of my work, click here).
A couple of years ago I got contacted by Tessa Dare and Courtney Milan about translating novellas for them in order to selfpublish their stories in German.

After I got more and more inquiries about translations, more than I could possibly handle, at least in a reasonable time frame I asked Birte, whom I have known for years, if she was interested in helping out. She was, but got one step further and suggested to launch the Agency Libelli.
